Lead Product Designer

Rasan is looking for a Lead Product Designer to join our Product & Design team. In this role, you will set the design direction for one or more product areas and lead a team of product designers to deliver experiences that are user-centred, consistent, and commercially effective. You will partner with product leadership, engineering, and business stakeholders to shape product strategy, raise the quality bar, and make sure design drives measurable results across web and mobile. This is a senior leadership role for someone who combines strong product and design judgement with the ability to coach designers, influence stakeholders, and stay hands-on where it matters most.

Job Objectives

· Define and own the design vision and direction for assigned product areas, aligning it with Rasan’s product strategy and business goals.

· Lead, coach, and develop a team of product designers, building a high-performing, collaborative design culture and a clear path for each team member’s growth.

· Ensure design excellence across the product portfolio – setting quality standards and critique practices, and holding the team to them – so experiences are intuitive, accessible, and consistent across web and mobile.

· Drive measurable product outcomes by embedding research, data, and experimentation in how the team defines, designs, and evaluates solutions.

· Own the evolution and adoption of Rasan’s design system, working with engineering to keep it scalable, well governed, and widely used.

· Act as the design voice in product planning and leadership discussions, influencing roadmaps and priorities with clear, evidence-based rationale.

Job Responsibilities

Design Leadership and Strategy

· Set the design vision, principles, and roadmap for assigned product areas, and connect them to company and product strategy.

· Partner with product and engineering leadership to shape product strategy, scope, and priorities, bringing a user and design perspective to planning.

· Plan design capacity and allocate designers across initiatives, balancing delivery, quality, and individual growth.

· Define how the team measures design impact, and report on outcomes and learnings to leadership.

· Identify new opportunities where design can create user and business value, and make the case for them.

Team Management and Mentorship

· Lead and manage a team of product designers, including onboarding, goal setting, regular one-to-ones, and performance feedback.

· Coach designers on craft, product thinking, and storytelling, and give clear, constructive feedback on their work.

· Run regular design critiques and reviews that raise the quality and consistency of output across the team.

· Take part in hiring – defining role needs, interviewing, and evaluating candidates – and build a diverse, strong design team.

· Create career development plans and growth opportunities for designers, and recognize and promote strong performance.

Product Discovery and Research

· Make sure each initiative starts with a clear problem statement, defined success metrics, and an understanding of user needs.

· Champion a research-led approach – guiding the team in planning and running interviews, usability tests, surveys, and competitive analysis.

· Combine qualitative insights with product analytics and experiment data to prioritize opportunities by user and business impact.

· Turn research and data into clear insights and strategic recommendations for product and business leaders.

Product and Interaction Design Excellence

· Provide hands-on design direction on complex, high-impact problems, such as onboarding, purchase, payment, and claims journeys in regulated environments.

· Review user flows, information architecture, prototypes, and high-fidelity designs to ensure they solve the right problem and meet quality standards.

· Ensure designs are accessible, responsive, and consistent across iOS, Android, and web, and that Arabic and English (right-to-left) experiences are equally strong.

· Work in an Agile process with engineering and product to deliver design incrementally, resolving trade-offs between ambition, scope, and timelines.

· Facilitate design thinking and alignment workshops with cross-functional teams on high-stakes initiatives.

Design System and Design Operations

· Own the strategy, governance, and roadmap of Rasan’s design system, working with engineering to keep components documented, reusable, and adopted across product teams.

· Define and improve design processes, tools, handoff standards, and workflows so the team works efficiently and consistently.

· Review implemented work against designs and agree quality standards with engineering to maintain design quality in production.

· Stay current with product design trends, emerging tools, and AI-enabled design practices, and introduce those that add value.

Collaboration and Stakeholder Management

· Build strong working relationships with product, engineering, marketing, and business leaders, and represent design in cross-functional forums.

· Present design strategy, concepts, and results to executives and senior stakeholders, explaining the rationale in terms of user needs and business goals.

· Negotiate priorities and trade-offs with stakeholders, and advocate for the time and resources needed to deliver quality.

· Stay close to customers and end users – joining research sessions and using their feedback to guide the team’s direction.

Job Requirements

Educational Qualification

· Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design, Interaction Design, Human-Computer Interaction, Visual Communication, Computer Science, or a related creative or technical field. A master’s degree is a plus.

Licenses & Certifications

· Certifications in UX or product design (Nielsen Norman Group UX Certification, or equivalent) or in design leadership are a plus. Figma Advanced certification is advantageous.

Previous Work Experience

· Minimum 8 years of experience in a product, UX/UI, or
